What We Believe

  1. Now is a Golden Age of juvenile literature. There are beautiful picture books, amazing beginning books and a seemingly endless selection of excellent YA titles. We want to provide children with books that will add real value to their education and social development.
  2. It’s important to be dedicated. We don’t sell TVs, cosmetics, auto parts, and children’s books, just children’s books. This website is fully and proudly independent. We provide our customers with an excellent shopping experience and sell books that kids will love.
  3. Creating Experiences with books is important. We have dozens of useful articles and reading activities to help parents, educators and child care providers create productive literacy activities for children.
  4. Reading is essential. A child who is read to and reads books is more likely to do well in school and become a productive, interesting and reasonable adult.
  5. Today’s children need real books. We love technology and how it benefits our lives. However, today’s children will spend their entire lives in a digital world. There are valuable educational and social lessons that are learned when a child can slow down, put the gadget aside and experience a real book.
  6. The best time to start reading is now! You’re never too young or too old to read start a habit of reading.

We’ve been in business since 2006. We have more than 200,000 titles available and we love to work with schools and other institutions on fulfilling large orders.

Beginning in 2014, we began offering organizations the option to carry out highly profitable online book fairs that require a fraction of the effort of a conventional book fair.

We are busy parents and we understand that volunteers and educators need to maximize the time they spend on book fairs. We have built our online book fairs so that librarians, volunteers and parents can carry out effective book fairs that do not require hours of labor. Our book fairs are easy and efficient for both the host organizations and their supporters.

Let us show you how an online book fair can raise great funds and promote reading. You can also read our blog, follow us on Twitter, find us on Facebook, and follow us on Pinterest.

About the Owner:

Jake started Children’s Bookstore in 2006 after realizing that there was no website that was a truly independent bookstore that is 100% dedicated to juvenile literature.

Childrensbookstore.com is his passion and life’s work. He loves engaging with the authors, illustrators and publishers who work hard to produce high quality children’s literature. Before starting Children’ Bookstore, Jake worked in politics as a Congressional staffer and campaign manager in Washington, D.C. and Idaho.

Jake is a fifth-generation Idahoan and he still lives in Idaho. He graduated from college with a degree in International Relations. But he wishes he’d studied art, computer science or any other major that had utility once he left college.

Jake and his wife have 4 children in Idaho schools. These children are often used as book reviewers and have more books than might be considered healthy.
