Music to Every Dad’s Ears: Daddy’s Home!

Daddy Book Blog Entry #4 out of 10

Hello, this is Brian with Childrensbookstore.com.  After a long and possibly stressful day of work, there’s nothing more satisfying than coming home and seeing major excitement in your children when they greet you with cheers of “Daddy’s Home!!!”.

The board book, Daddy’s Home, by Rosanne Parry is a super fun book that revels in the excitement of a young child welcoming daddy home at the end of his day.  The illustrative narrative shows Daddy unwinding from work as a parallel to the bedtime rituals of a young child.  It’s a pretty cool concept, and it makes for a perfect bed time book.  This board book’s exuberant and energetic illustrations evokes the precious hours that many fathers typically share with their children during the evening.

Daddy’s Home also helps my children understand how important the time together in the evening is for me and how much I cherish that time together.  It gives them a valuable alternate perspective.

Ok, here’s where I pontificate like the deep thinker that I am.  Daddy’s can learn the most vital lesson from this book.  First of all, a newsflash for the wives: No daddy is perfect when he gets home.  I don’t want you to think that every time I come home from work I’m ready to be super dad.  Unfortunately, it just doesn’t always turn out that way.  There are many times when I come home still in “work mode” and I just want to open the laptop and send out “just a couple more emails”, much to the chagrin of my wife and children.  Sometimes I come home and just want to crash for the evening, even as my daughter (whom I love more than anything in the world) begs me to kick the soccer ball or go to the park.  Hands down, the most important impact this book can have on a family is to gently remind daddy that his children greatly need and desire his love and attention when he comes home from work.  As for me, dually noted.

Childrensbookstore.com currently has Daddy’s Home! on sale.  Coincidence?  Nope.  Enjoy.
