The first Siamese cats were probably bred around 500 years ago in Siam, the country that is now called Thailand. Some legends say that the cats lived in temples and were owned only by royalty. Today, the Siamese is one of the most popular cat breeds in the United States. Siamese cats are known as good communicators with an unusually loud meow.
