Common problems include biting, hitting, ignoring parents and teachers, poor table manners and the list goes on. The real challenge in creating a book like the ones below is to make it so that the book is written on a level that a child can understand. An equally difficult challenge is showing and demonstrating biting, hitting, screaming, etc. in a way that does not invite a child to imitate the bad habit.

After these two goals are met, the book must teach a child how to correct a problem on his or her own, without a heavy-handed approach from a parent or teacher.

Probably the most vexing problem parents are faced with is a child’s anger. What to do when a child’s anger reaches a boiling point soon and often? There are several books below that are wonderful for this issue. We like the title What to do When You’re Temper Flares the best. This book is part of a series from the Magination Press called “What to Do, Guides for Kids”. The entire series has wonderful books regarding overcoming negativity, fear of going to bed and more. The books look admittedly corny. But, the advice and examples in them are from highly experienced child psychologists and are very useful.
