Violet and Victor Write the Best-Ever Bookworm Book

Violet, the older twin by six minutes, wants to write a book and enlists her younger twin brother, Victor, for his creative genius, to help with the book. Victor is more interested in his pet worms than helping his bossy and less than humble sister write her book. Reluctantly, Victor does give his rather inventive input after he hears his sister’s self-centered story. “Violet is the cleverest, strongest, bravest girl in the whole entire school. She is the best speller. She is a great writer. She is not bossy.” Victor’s story idea involves adventure, thrill, imagination and worms. “One day, Violet overhears the school librarian say, ‘This book is missing some pages.’” A book eating monster is to blame, but will Violet and Victor agree on what the monster will look like? Violet’s book begins to incorporate some of Victor’s ideas, but mainly the book is about her and her awesomeness…and a good moral: Fill up on the words of a book. When Victor mentions their book, Violet disagrees he even had a part in writing the story. Illustrations, by Bethanie Deeney Murguia, are phenomenal! There is nothing lacking in the works of art that grace this picture book. Multiple techniques and media are used. Colors are vibrant and enchanting. The creativity, by both writer and illustrator, used in this book will not go unnoticed by readers. Will Violet ever give any credit to her twin brother, Victor, who gave her the creative spark? Violet and Victor write the Best-Ever Bookworm Book is sibling rivalry at its best.
