This is a darling story of a mouse who finds that he loves to read. He reads about surfing and decides that his destiny is to be a great surfer. After much difficult practice on a waxed tongue depressor, Broderick becomes a great surfer. His mouse friends make fun of his crazy ambition and he leaves for the ocean.
He finally makes his way to the ocean where he is discovered by a famous (human) surfer who becomes his best friend. Together they travel the world.
The book has several references to Southern California surf spots and the books is a fun read for a budding reader who loves the ocean.
