Make a Mark

Babies learn how letters are formed when they scribble. Writing with babies helps them make the connection between speaking and writing and the connection between sounds and letters.
You don't need paper to draw and write. Be creative! Help your older baby or toddler discover other ways to leave a mark:

Show your baby how to make lines in the dirt or sand with a stick.
Give your baby a piece of chalk to draw on the sidewalk, porch, or fence.
