Eve Bunting was born in Ireland in 1928.  She immigrated to the United States with her husband and 3 children in 1958.  While living in California she enrolled in a creative writing class at a local community college and soon after she wrote her first published story, The Two Giants.  Since then Eve Bunting has written over 100 books for young readers! She has written novels, picture books, and nonfiction.  She has beautifully written about difficult topics such as death, war, and troubled families.  Her books have earned her several awards over the years, including a Caldecott Medal.
